So I decided today, I should break away from my mundane routine by visiting the park in the evening. A rare opportunity for me to slow down, and really take a good look around me. To appreciate the greenery, including the boisterous and energetic cheers of children playing, and not forgetting to feel so alive and grateful that I am alive.
6.17pm, seated on one of the many benches in the park less than 5 minutes walk away from my home.
I must say I am already liking this break away from my hermit-like routine of holing myself up in my room, my face either glued to my laptop screen or the TV screen.
Why am I even surprised to experience the liveliness in this park? In fact, I am even more surprised, pleasantly, by the number of people and dogs! Yes I tried to count — within 20 steps into the park, I walked past 5 dogs and 10 people (adults + kids).
Then I started sending them, humans plus dogs, well wishes in my head — 心想事成,一切顺顺利利,梦想成真,生体健康 — funny I wished them well in Chinese.
心想事成 — May they get whatever they wish for
一切顺顺利利 — Everything goes smoothly and well for them
梦想成真 — May their dreams come true
生体健康 — May they be healthy
Then I started to realize how true it is that what we focus on expands… and where our thoughts go, energy flows. And I’m loving this.
The little voice in my head is telling me, maybe you should do this more regularly. Both visiting the park alone as well as sending well wishes, that is.
It’s so comforting and relaxing to watch how carefree and open the children are to being themselves, singing as they stroll past me, shouting at their friends as they run across the grass patches.
Boy am I thankful for my mum for giving birth to me, thankful for the people who have always supported me… thankful for the friends I have. Thankful to have a mentor in my life.
